    Saturday 27th December 2014, Shorrocks Motorcycles held a charity bash at the New Hall Tavern at Samlesbury to raise money for North West Blood Bikes Lancs & Lakes. The bash was a tremendous success, with the pub being so full you had to go outside to breath. Of course one reason was because Carl Fogarty promised he would turn up, and sure enough he did.

  • Urgent run to Cardiff

    Tuesday 9th December 2014, our Chairman received a request from the Pathology Department at Royal Preston Hospital to transport an urgent blood sample to Cardiff for urgent analysis of a specialist test.

    Time was critical and transporting the sample by taxi would have taken significantly longer than using a motorbike and would have incurred significant costs.

    From Saturday 22nd November through to 30th November the Motorcycle Live Show was on at the NEC in Birmingham and NABB (Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes) had a stand there. The stand was manned every day by members from many groups, including ours.

  • Major Incident Royal Preston Hospital

    Major Incident Royal Preston Hospital

    22:15 hrs on Friday evening, 14th November 2014, and the Police call for our help. There had been a large chemical incident at Royal Preston Hospital in the Path Lab and it had to close meaning that all samples, blood, etc., could not be analysed or distributed at/from the main hospital in the centre of Lancashire. All analysis of samples had to go to other hospitals, mainly the sister hospital at Chorley but further afield too.

    Children In Need Rickshaw Challenge

    Friday and Saturday 7th & 8th November 2014 several North West Blood Bikes Lancs & Lakes, on liveried bikes, assisted the Rickshaw Challenge from the start at Salford Media City to Bolton, over Belmont (a long up-hill for the children peddling) and on to Blackpool on Friday. On Saturday they went from Blackpool to Liverpool. One of the riders< Carl, was even wearing a Pudsey outfit over his bike gear.

  • Children In Need

    North West Blood Bikes Lancs & Lakes are helping the Rickshaw challenge for Children in Need as part of the Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes. Our riders are escorting from the start at Media City in Salford and escorting them to Blackpool on Friday 7th November and again on Saturday 8th November from Blackpool to Liverpool.

  • Yet another milestone

    Friday 3rd October 2014, exactly 29 months 1 day after we began operating we reached a milestone having carried out 8,000 call-out runs, 2656 since 2nd May 2014 (5 months).

    This amazing figure is down solely to generosity of all our volunteers; the Controllers for being there either all day or all night; the riders for going out in all weathers, day & night; our fundraisers for helping us afford to do it and our general members for spreading the word.
