Poorly Little Boy

Category: News

At 14:20 hrs on Friday 9th August 2013, Lee Townsend, night controller from the previous night, received a call from Blackpool Pharmacy with a request for a Very Urgent run to Alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool, to collect some life saving drugs for a very poorly little boy in Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

Lee dispatched Graham Jones with the request that it be treated as extremely urgent. Graham took on the ride and due to heavy traffic used Blues & Two’s. Thankfully he delivered the drugs in time.

Whilst the call was out of our normal operating hours, the call went to Lee, who’s number was still linked in to the transfer call system and working for himself was able to take the call and contact an available day rider.

Well done to Lee and Graham for taking on this unusual call out. It just goes to show that if we can, we will. Maybe that should be our Motto?
