The Great North Swim

14th, 15th & 16th June 2013 was a 3 day event on Lake Windermere at the Low Wood Hotel, Ambleside. 16,000 competitors over the 3 days with their families cheering them on, so somewhere in the region of 45,000 people in total. NWBB Lancs & Lakes of course were there flying the flag and under the gazebo much of Friday, but the weather got better and the lake stayed where it should instead of coming out on us.
That said Debbie Houghton a controller swam 1 mile in really rough waters on Saturday, the windiest day, well done Debbie. Not forgetting Andy, her hubby because the two of them were fantastic. They stayed on site for the full 3 days, erecting the gazebo each morning and pulling it down at night. Our grateful thanks to them both.
Neville at the hotel was also great letting us have free drinks and BACON BUTTIES, made of course by our very own Stafan Milanec who just happens to be the head chef at the Hotel.
