Today 9th June 2013, Lee Townsend, (Duty Call Handler) received a call from RPH switchboard to collect a Very Urgent item from Manchester Royal Infirmary’s Pharmacy to go to RPH. The item had to be collected within the hour and was in an ice box and had to be delivered with all haste. Graham Jones was dispatched and collected it from MRI. En route to RPH he encountered a serious Road Traffic Collision on the M6 where the Air Ambulance had been dispatched and due to the “Urgent” nature of the item he was carrying he upgraded the call to Emergency and used Blues and Twos to get to RPH.
