27000 Runs

Category: News

At 19:40 on Tuesday 27th September, East rider Mick Covill delivered the 27,000th run for North West Blood Bikes with Mike Hockney as his controller.

This was just one of the 28 requests for our service received during the night which involved 10 riders who collectively covered over 300 miles between hospitals while making life saving deliveries.

Providing this kind of service involves a great team effort and commitment. There is so much work that goes on within the charity. The riders out in all weathers, paying for their own maintenance and fuel, the controllers who take the calls and watch over the riders to make sure they are safe, the fundraisers who collect vital funds to keep the charity running, the unseen heroes who work tirelessly in the background making sure that operations run smoothly. Most importantly we couldn’t do all this without the support of our local NHS Trusts and the members of the public, whose donations help us to ensure that we can continue providing this life saving service 365 days a year.

An excellent service. Hope it is also rewarding for all the volunteers.
