  • The Long Way Down

    On Sunday 7th May 2017 two friends, Ian Woodburn and Calum Wilcock, are riding non-stop (apart for essential comfort breaks) from John O’ Groats to Lands Ends to raise funds for North West Blood Bikes Lancs and Lakes. As both riders work for the NHS at The Royal Lancaster Infirmary they decided this would be a great charity to sponsor.

    ‘Crafty Ladies’ help keep the wheels turning

    A group from Penwortham have been raising money for local charity North West Blood Bikes – Lancs & Lakes.

    The 13 members of Crafty Ladies from Tuson House who meet weekly, nominated the charity as their charity of choice for 2016. Money was raised by holding a cabaret night, Christmas raffle and a table top sale. The ladies also sold items that they had knitted and crocheted like Easter bunnies, Halloween spiders and Christmas reindeers along with other items throughout the year.

    National Lottery Awards 2016

    North West Blood Bikes Lancs & Lakes is appealing for local votes as it strives for nationwide acclaim on BBC One in this year’s National Lottery Awards.

    The project beat off stiff competition from over 600 organisations to reach the public voting stage in this year’s National Lottery Awards – the annual search for the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded projects.

    North West Blood Bikes Lancs & Lakes is competing against six other projects to be crowned the winner of the Health category. Winners of the seven National Lottery Awards categories will each get a £3,000 cash prize to spend on their project, an iconic National Lottery Awards trophy and attend a star-studded glittering Awards ceremony in London, broadcast on BBC One in September hosted by TV star and actor John Barrowman.

    Police donate a bike

    Commissioner donates Blood Bike to charity

    A former police motorbike is set to take on a life-saving role thanks to Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner. Clive Grunshaw has donated the bike to the North West Blood Bikes Lancs and Lakes (NWBB L&L), meaning it will now be used by volunteers delivering vital blood supplies to hospitals across the region.
